This was written on the 27 of April 2014. I imagine Google will change things again later so let's say this is a loose guide for now.
So how can I get my face to appear in Google search results with this blog? So far I have made a Google+ profile https://plus.google.com/u/0/116030276294685684307

I am a bit cloudy about my email and I will tell you why... https://methodise.me
I read that you must verify your email with Google+, but I am assuming that as my email is already a G Mail and when I log into my G Mail account I am also logged in to my Google+! So I think the verify 'part' would only apply if you had a non-G Mail email. I don't like to waste time so I think it's best just to register a G Mail account if you don't yet have one, so you can also skip this part.
Log in to your G Mail and you will see at the top right hand corner a place for your face (an image in a circle). Click that then Click add photo/change photo (the big square). Upload your image.
Now go here https://plus.google.com/settings and make sure to tick 'Help others discover my profile in search results.'
Next just go to Google+ (Google it with your ninja skills..) or in your G Mail I see left of my face +Benz (I clicked this)...
Now I'm in my Google+ profile.... Click the About tab, edit your Story (they mean 'Author Bio' sometimes being trendy is stupid!) and scroll down to Links.
In the links panel you will see Contributor to and under that you will again see 'Links' (why the bad layout Google?!), 'what pages interest you?' and 'Edit'. You need to edit, then add the link to your blog...
OK, so I have a blog using Google blogger (it makes sense to me as again blogger is Google and so I'm logged in once for all things Google).
(Now I am doing this as I type) In Blogger create a new post, then in your post text editor window - under the blogger logo you can see two buttons [Compose] and [HTML], click html and add your name like this:
By YOUR_NAME <link rel="author" href="https://plus.google.com/u/0/PROFILE_ID?rel=author">Google+</link>
Then go back to to Compose and write something nice. Now when you publish and search (test by copying a full sentence of your blog so that you are bound to find your page), your face should appear now on Google search results!
